Hair metal bands like Bon Jovi, Warrant, Cinderella, Winger, Def Leppard, White Lion, etc. as well as more regular metal bands like Tesla, Skid Row, and even Judas Priest all knew how to write that great hook that made the song stick in your head for hours.
There was no better hook-writer ...

I wish I could give you some examples... but I'm SO not into the new bands -- I don't know any
